The Treasure of Baiyun Temple: The "Cultivation of Truth Diagram" (Xiuzhen Tu). This edition is made by rubbing from the monument at Beijing Baiyunguan using rice paper, without any print spray. The monument, concealed in the back garden of Baiyunguan, is a precious treasure of the temple. It is meticulously mounted and can be hung directly. The "Cultivation of Truth Diagram" (Xiuzhen Tu) and the "Inner Landscape Diagram" (Neijing Tu) are foundational blueprints for Daoist internal alchemy (neidan) practice. These diagrams outline the process of cultivating vital energy (qi) to refine the spiritual body (yang spirit) and transform life itself.

Historical and Philosophical Root:
The diagrams synthesize ancient practices dating back to the *Yellow Court Canon* (Huangting Jing) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and Ming-era theories from the Essentials of Nature and Life (Xingming Guizhi). They integrate Chinese medical concepts and physiological knowledge, serving as essential guides for qi cultivation.

The Xiuzhen Tu traces its lineage to Laozi, Lü Dongbin, Chen Tuan, and Zhang Sanfeng. Also known as the Ninefold Alchemical Transformation Diagram, it combines imagery and text to depict stages of cultivation, from foundational practices to spiritual transcendence. Over centuries, it has influenced Confucian, Buddhist, and Daoist traditions, embodying a unified approach to self-cultivation. Legends claim it encompasses the Daoist ascent to immortality, Buddhist enlightenment, and Confucian moral vigor.

Maintaining its original quaint style, it is suitable for learning, researching, and teaching classic Chinese medicine, Qi Gong, acupuncture, and more. It holds both reference and collection value, making it a wonderful gift.

Inner landscape size: 120*50cm
Total size: 160*60cm

Structure and Symbolism:
The diagram comprises three sections:
1. Header: A cosmological introduction linking humanity to the universe, citing concepts like "360 body joints" and "nine celestial palaces mirroring nine earthly regions."
2. Central Axis: Represents the stages of alchemical transformation—refining essence (jing) into qi, qi into spirit (shen), and spirit into emptiness (xu)—culminating in unity with the cosmos.
3. Wings: Depict six mythical beasts symbolizing organ functions and their elemental correspondences (e.g., liver as wood, aligned with the east), illustrating the "body as microcosm" theory.

Key Teachings:
- Ninefold Transformation: The diagram’s alternate name, *Ninefold Alchemical Transformation*, implies progressive refinement through nine stages.
- Yuanming Zhenren (True Self): The perfected state achieved through cultivation, where innate vitality (yuanqi) and postnatal nourishment (from spleen/stomach) harmonize.
- Ancient Foundations: Inspired by pre-Qin texts like the I Ching and medical classics (Lingshu, Suwen), it reflects early anatomical studies, such as the Yanluozi’s Pilgrimage Diagram (10th century).

Interpretation Challenges
Deciphering the Xiuzhen Tu requires expertise in classical Chinese, Daoist terminology, and cultural context. Its metaphors—like "reverse the diagram to complete the elixir"—hint at cyclical transformation processes.

Legacy
A pinnacle of Daoist life science, the diagram encapsulates the "unity of heaven and humanity" theory, surpassing fragmented philosophical texts. It remains a testament to ancient China’s quest to understand cosmic and bodily harmony.
